Another crack at the translation

Well, I've been getting lots of stuff done since I figured out how to plug in my computer. But now it's time to go out to deal with the translation issue again. Oh how I hate making phone calls. But shikata ga nai. That is, ... hmm, how do you say "it can't be helped" in French?

Part of what I hate about making phone calls at the moment is that I have to go to a pay phone to do it, but oh well, life's tough.

Can I say again just how cool my host N is? She's really really really helpful and excellent. Seems to be one of those people it's hard to think of favors to do for, though, so I should get her flowers or something.

Last night we had fish for dinner that her dad had caught! (Nowhere near Paris, I checked...not sure I would be happy eating fish out of the Seine.) It was carp, and it was quite good. It's too bad we can't really communicate except through N; his French has quite a Ukranian accent and it's very hard for me to hear.

S at the university, from the helping foreigners cope with France office, is going to help me make phone calls to apartment listings on Monday, and she's doing all sorts of other research for me. She should get flowers too.
