The title is from Cialdini's book Influence, which details how unscrupulous people take advantage of other people's natural instincts. The other title I considered for this entry was "The Stupidity Tax."
I got my phone stolen by gypsies. I feel really dumb.
The good news is, I got my SIM blocked within the hour, and my friend J (who I'm starting to owe a great many beers...) had an old phone that I could put my new SIM in, so I'm back in business at least.
I had insurance on the phone, at least I thought so, but it didn't come up on the computer when they looked, so I have to figure this out.
The worst part almost is that I lost my little Hello Kitty maiko-chan thingy that I got in Kyoto. :( Maybe I can get my friend who lives in Osaka to get me one.
But in other news, I have an apartment. No electricity yet, but definitely an apartment.
Oh, and my computer is all blue screen of deathy.
Ah well, sometimes you're the windshield...sometimes you're the bug...sometimes you're both simultaneously.

I'm sorry!!! Sounds like there's been way too much bug-windshield action going on. (Is there any hope for the computer?)

Thanks...yes, things are looking up today, but it's true I don't know how to get my computer to boot. That is, I know how, but I couldn't find my windows CDs before I left, so I'll have to find some here.
Fortunately I'm pretty well backed up, so I prolly won't have lost anything.
