Good day back at work; Amuse-Gueule

Ah, it's been a good day back at work.

And, I'm going to get a telephone number at my place, which means then I can get internet, um, sometime in the next three weeks. Actually, though, it's not any worse to get DSL here than it is in the states, I think!

Getting here was entertaining today; I was on ligne 5 at Bastille when there was some announcement, and I didn't understand all of it but I thought it best to get off and get on ligne 1, to get to Saint Denis a different way. Nice to have alternatives.

Listening to Bill O'Reilly on the Daily Show. I highly recommend it.

Had a good meeting with C today, getting things going. Nice to be back at work. And need to go buy various things tonight, like food for my fridge.

Last night J met me at what will be my hangout. It's right on the corner of my street and Blvd. Morland, and it's called Amuse-Gueule, where "gueule" is a word for an animal's mouth (and shows up in the useful phrase "Ta gueule" = "Shut up!"). It's a wine bar, with a pleasant atmosphere and lots of people hanging out, and couches outside with LA-style heaters. Dinner is served on the other side of the bar, and the specials look good.

Actually, for a few days earlier it seemed that they were writing what saint's day it was on the window...but they seem to have stopped that now. Anyway, I look forward to many good times there.
