There was another offer at 680 (or so he said); I tried bargaining but actually I'm a bit over a barrel, so I took it at 700.
It's in a very quiet neighborhood, in some ways almost too quiet, but it's a month to month lease, so if I find something better that's cool.
I guess in the end, with the other charges I've accumulated, it's not much better than a year of 800 euro rent. But there's one difference: The charges I've accumulated are tax deductible because they involve moving for my job. That helps somewhat!
Six flights of stairs...need to see if les garcons du cinquieme will help me with my bags...certainly won't need to join a gym.
I can move in tonight if I want!

congratulations!! looks like a fine place indeed, for 700 Eu in gay Paree. And if it's month-to-month, as you say, you can always move up and out!

Yay - congrats on finding such a nice place! The picture of the stairs made me think of one of those optical illusion paintings by Escher -- I hope you can get help moving in. ;)

that's an awesome location! and there's a few good bars and restaurants around that neck of the woods. much much better than being out in the back of the 14eme or whatever.
