I was too busy to blog today! There were talks in the morning, on sign languages, and then francophone lunch. It was very cold, or at least in a knee-length skirt it seemed that way. Must get my trousers cleaned...anyway, the news today that chills really do make you more suceptible to colds gave me something to think about as I was waiting for the train. I came home and took a nap, so hopefully that will ward off any colds that might be lurking.
Then to the Monop, on the bus, to get the rest of my week's shopping done. For the first time looked at the meat section in the Monoprix. The first meat I came to was rabbit. Then duck. Duck livers, anyone? And then all sorts of bits and parts. It really is a different food culture. I do respect the fact that they have something on the order of twenty different kinds of cured ham on sale, though.
Came home and made a lovely, lovely beef stew, with carrots and potatoes and shallot and garlic and thyme and sage and parsley (sorry, no rosemary) and a "pot au feu" beef boullion cube. I had found, and bought, an "Indian spice" for the aloo gobhi, but by then I was already getting into the idea of a beef stew. And it was just wonderful.
Did some meditation...then puttered around...put the wash on...the sound of the washing machine is so soothing. Oh, nearly forgot: my light went out in the bedroom; I think it's just a bulb, but I can't get high enough to see. Hrm. Heaven forfend everything electric should work in this place. But I'm not complaining.
One thing I'm finding is that it's nice to have fewer possessions to deal with. Certainly easier to take care of, like having a short haircut after having had long hair for a while.
