Wrapping up

Christmas shopping is done.

Last night at the Bom I met a couple of lovely New Yorkers (well, really from CT, but they sound like New Yorkers) who are in Paris while one of them interviews for an electrical engineering job in the south of France. His mom lives in the 5th, and they're staying with her. Let's call him P and his sweetie K. They're both hilarious; I feel right at home with their level of interrupting each other. And K's a Chinese medicine person (I mean, Chinese medicine, but she's not Chinese)...she gave me a little reading then and there AND she's going to give me a free shiatsu treatment when I get back. She was delighted to hear that I am a linguist; she said she is interested in historical linguistics. Oddly, the first language thing the two of them wanted to talk to me about was how you can communicate pretty much anything in any language; usually people are much more attracted to the differences.

I'd like to meet more French people, but I'm gradually realizing that you just don't make friends at French bars the way you do at "Anglo-Saxon" bars.

Finished knitting Js's hat, need to take care of the loose ends (literally).

Many loose ends in that one damn paper still...ben alors.

Can't wait to get home.

Today there are fire alarms being tested or something at Catulienne...they seem to want us to leave. When we get back there will be a week of packing up and then we'll be in the new place. Fortunately I won't have much to pack.
