Morning

Nice to get out of bed in the morning. Daylight savings seems to have made it easier, not harder. At Café Le Moderne, with their excellent hot chocolate and their nostalgic music selection (right now it's "Funkytown"). Some thoughts this morning:

I can't believe it's a week already since I put my parents on the bus to CDG.

The latest news from Boston is that J and G's baby is coming ANY DAY NOW. Maybe on my birthday!

Last night JD and I went to this thing at the mairie (city hall) welcoming foreign researchers. The room it was held in had an amazing ceiling, all frescoed and bas-relief and gold leaf and so forth. The mayor of Paris spoke, and some other people, and then they gave us free drinks and canapés. JD was determined that we should speak French, so I could practice, so we did that, from 5:30 when I arrived to maybe 8:30 (at a café at Châtelet, when we decided to talk linguistics).

I got some good work done yesterday, and looking forward to the same today. And another appointment with the orthoptiste.
