Trop de soleil

For some reason I slept very well and woke up ready to get my day started. How often does that happen? Not often, but this is the second time in as many weeks, so I must be doing something right.

I have installed myself at the Café Français, with a glass of apricot juice and a carafe of water, to mix. Beautiful. I had to move from the front row of tables to the back because there was too much sun, I couldn't see my screen! Life's tough.

On my walk here I was reminded of two things. First, a bus full of tourists made me consider the fact that I've been living in tourist areas for almost 10 years now. Funny. The second thing was that I remembered something I didn't blog from a couple of weeks ago; it was K and P's last night in town before moving to Amherst, MA for gradual school. We met at the Bom, also with JD and new friend Tn and her little dog Roscoe! Eventually we went across the way to this small performance space I hadn't known about, where there was a guy singing and playing guitar in that traditional French kind of way, political songs and other songs he made up. The ones I remember... there was one where the chorus began, "C'est ma famille, mes frères sont tous voleurs, mes soeurs sont toutes filles" ('That's my family, my brothers are all thieves, my sisters are all girls...'). And there was one that started, "La la la la la la la .... télévision, la télé qui fait des visions." ('The tele that makes visions'). It was super chouette, even if I couldn't understand most of the words.

Okay, this has all been in the way of procrastination, or shall we say, settling in. Now it's back to work on this very old paper that I'm revising so it gets out of my way.
