Half a loaf

I have made the momentous decision to cut my paper in half for the purpose of the present conference proceedings. This has the added advantage that I will be able to submit the whole thing to a peer-reviewed journal later. And it makes me feel better about the whole thing. I really do need to talk to some people about the second half before it goes out into the world.

Yesterday I spent the whole day with ÖD, the bigshot typologist who I invited to come talk to my group here. I like him a lot, and he gave a very interesting talk, but the day was sort of tiring. I took him to this place for lunch near St. Lazare that had lovely mosaics and things on the inside. Our dinner plans fell through at the last minute because our host PC's six-month-old son got sick. So ÖD and I went out for couscous. (I've been having a lot of couscous lately!) Anyway, so we didn't run out of things to talk about, but I hadn't planned on having two meals with just him and me. Fortunately, tonight it's a larger gang.

Okay, back to work.
