I had an interesting cab ride over here, speaking broken English with the cab driver. It turned out that the rap music he had put on was expressly for me, since it was in English. I asked him what he listened to, and he said, well, music in Hebrew, or else Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles. He also told me a lot about how he likes to smoke weed and drink alcohol but he doesn't do any harder drugs.
Once we got to the campus, we had to call IS a couple of times to help us find the place. But we found it. And then I couldn't find anyone at the guesthouse front desk. But I finally found the manager in the end. (It's still Shabbat, so it's "after hours".)
The campus is on a hill on the west side of West Jerusalem, not so far from the Knesset, quite far from the Old City. Anyway, I'm going to figure out what to do tonight. Once Shabbat ends, some stores open from 8 to midnight, apparently. I need to try ED again (my other host) to see if she is around yet. NB told me that ED was doing a triathlon yesterday, that's why she couldn't meet me!
My room is nice; I have a little balcony with geraniums, there's the all-important bathtub, and there's free wireless internet, hooray. I can't get Thunderbird (my mail client) to work with it, but I'll try to check at least my mit account on the web. So if you're going to write to me, write me at that address.
