Ravioli and processional

Last night I had a wonderful plate of ravioli with figs and parma ham at this Italian place JD and I went to, right on the edge of Les Halles by St. Eustache. La Perla, I think it was called. Very good and very reasonably-priced.

Today was V-E day, and I saw the horseback procession go by Châtelet, on its way from the ceremonies at the Arc de Triomphe to (I assume) the Arsenal where all the horses are kept. There were maybe a couple of hundred horses, two by two. The riders had serious old-fashioned uniforms, with shiny metal helmets and swords and everything. Interestingly, some of the riders had brass instruments, including a couple with euphonia (you know, small tubas). But even the instrumentalists had swords!

Mostly I just wanted to title a blog post "Ravioli and processional."
