Let's see... where to start. Noo got here on Thursday, and then Friday was full of syntax. Saturday was maybe the most sightseeing. We met up with A on Saturday, and went to the newly-opened Orangerie, where we stood in line for more than an hour, but it was worth it, I think. Here is a photo of A and noo, the two reddest-haired of my friends, in front of one of the lilypad paintings:

Then we were joined by JD for macarons at Ladurée:

After that, JD and noo and I went to the 18th to get the photo of noo's personal street in the previous post. His street is pretty lively! And, roaming around in that area, we saw the storefront they used for filming parts of Amélie:

We also walked by the café where Amélie worked, though I didn't take a photo. (JD and I went there on our second date, by the way.)
While noo was in town, we got to discover some new restaurants from the Time Out guide -- Chez Toinette in the 18th, and L'Encrier in the 12th. We also went out for couscous twice, with JD and also with noo's MIT colleague DF and his wife O, who are in town for a bit while DF does several lectures. Actually, the funny thing was that although their offices are maybe 30 feet away from each other, they didn't know that the other one was going to be in Paris until I told them.
We've had some strange weather for the last couple of weeks; windy and cool, with fast-moving low clouds, and going from sun to rain to sun in the course of half-an-hour. But we made the best of it, and I think noo had a good time. I certainly did! Okay, back to work now.
