I've been hanging out here in Arlington with J and G and their three-month-old T (and their cat E). Yes, I promise I'll take photos! T is cuter than cuter than cute. He looks at faces, even across the room, and I've even made him laugh, which he's just starting to do, apparently.
J and T and I went one day to the "Mommy and Me" movie at the Capitol in Arlington. It's a weekly movie showing for mothers and infants (fathers too, in principle, but I didn't see any). I don't think I've ever been in the same room with so many mothers and infants before. It was kind of cool, except that I felt sort of naked without a baby myself!
I've seen some friends too... caught Noo before he took off for points south to see his family, and had lunch today with high school friend L, finally giving him his wedding gift overdue from last October. I helped some friends testsolve a video puzzle for the National Puzzlers' League convention. And last night, J and her sisters and I drove out to Lowell to see the Indigo Girls at an outdoor venue. We had a nice time until it started pouring and pouring and pouring. At least that helped the heat a bit. But my is it humid still...
Today I worked like a little bunny, in the library at MIT, looking up occasionally at the trees and the river while thunderstorms came and went. More work and thunderstorms coming up in the next few days. Remember that paper I kept trying to finish, a ways back? I've gone back to it for the last few bits, and it's nearly done. For real this time.
I'm watching "Good Eats" with Alton Brown on J and G's Tivo, and he's doing crèpes. Lots of French jokes. :) He has pretty good uvular r's.
