He tells me he's thinking of painting over the head at this point, and in fact, even this one was not the first head on that painting. The earlier one had me smiling...but I didn't get a photo of that one.
This one he did as a quick study for the big painting (based on the photo of me that was for a long time on my home page). I think it may be my favorite one of the three.

And this one is the latest one he did; I haven't seen it in person yet.

It's cool how he can capture very characteristic expressions on my face, and how they look like me, even though they're not precisely realistic. I have no idea how he does that!
JD said to tell you that he would love to hear your comments on these. :)

I started working on the face of the big one again... It's gonna be a new bathroom painting...
Ok, maybe you need some explanations about what a "bathroom painting" is.
I started a painting years ago. For some reasons (no room anywhere else at the time i guess)I hung it in my bathroom for a long time. It still there. Every once in a while i start working on it again. Because i'm never happy with the result.
Now after four years working on it i think that, maybe, i like it enough so i won't work on it anymore.
Anyway, to me, a bathroom painting is a painting that takes a very long time to make. And also a painting i'm working very hard on because i never feel satisfied...
Yes indeed, JD does capture the girl. I would like to see more of a smile in one of the paintings, but I bow to the artist. Well done!
I really like the artwork. Quite a talent, JD.
BIGM
Pretty neato! I like the one with the hat best. Agree that they are clearly *you* even though not strictly realistic. Very impressive work, JD!
