I'm here in San Francisco for my brother's and M's weeding. My trip on Wednesday was uneventful (not so my parents', which took some 20 hours more than they had anticipated, for almost no good reason). More later about the weeding festivities... I'm too jetlagged at the moment. But for now just a few thoughts about being back in the US of A.
It's great seeing my family. Best family ever.
It's been gorgeous in SF, and our hotel is near the Embarcadero, which runs along the waterfront (fun fact: I was at this hotel for the LSA five years ago). They've renovated the old ferry building to house shops, mostly organic and local food. It's too wonderful to be believed.
I just feel more comfortable knowing that the people around me are speaking English. I guess it's knowing that (or the illusion that) I could understand them if I wanted to.
I really appreciate having walk/don't walk signs with more than 1 bit of information, unlike in France.
Also quite nice to be in a time zone where the start-the-day program on BBC Radio 4 (shipping forecast, prayer for the day, Farming Today, etc.) comes on at a reasonable hour.

Is it me or are you spelling wedding wrong ?
I assume you're not talking about a great time to smoke weed ? Are you ?
Yes, it's like naeroport or lympics.
That is, yes to the question in the first comment. No to the questions in the second comment.
