Canal de l'Ourcq

We were blessed with a warm and sunny weekend. Today I took advantage of it by going with MEETin on a bike/rollerblade excursion along the Canal de l'Ourcq. This is the same canal that is called the Canal St. Martin in Paris.

We were four cyclists and five rollerbladers. At times there were cobblestones, which was extremely tricky and exhausting for the rollerbladers; they worked much harder than us cyclists!
Just a beautiful day, though, to be out along the canal.

We went as far as the Sevran Livry station on RER line B; this is about 20k from Paris (but not nearly the extent of the bike path along the canal, as you can see on this map. We went just past the cluse (lock) de Sevran). Most of the group took the RER back, but another girl and I biked back. I'm exhausted!

Bah oui! Yes, it's fine to take your bike on the RER. Just not the métro.
