They're at it again

As the anniversary of last year's riots approaches, things are heating up. (Or "hotting up" as our British friends like to say.) This time a bunch of kids burned a bus in the suburbs. Thankfully no one was on it at the time.

The thing is, nothing has really changed for the people who rioted and protested last year. So it would not be surprising to see a return of the unrest.

The thing is also that a lot of people in the media started talking of that anniversary for at least 3 weeks on the tune of "We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when"... and Get scared !!!!!

The other thing is that Nicolas Sarkozy (leader of the majority party, official candidate for the next presidential election and secretary in charge of the police) basically heated up the whole thing one year ago.

Back then two kids tragically died while being chased by the police. Sarkozy then went to the "cité" (like "city" in greek philosophy but you'd better understand ghetto) at midnight to visit a police station with a huge motorcade with lots of lights and full blast sirens.

Of course, people started to complain and yelled at him from their windows. Believe it or not, but sometimes, people want to sleep at midnight.

So Sarkozy just called them all "racailles" (scum) and promised he would get rid of them to the 20 TV cameras that were "surprisingly" there that night.

Needless to say that all these riots are very convenient for a candidate in charge with the police who campaigns on the theme of insecurity and flights to the White House to have his picture taken with W.

To make a long story short, if that guy wants to get elected, he needs to scare the hell out of people. Sounds familiar ?

Oh, and btw, Sarkozy is also in charge of re-counting the ballots (their is a first counting on a local level and always a second one on the national level) but, believe it or not, i think we're gonna have a fair election.
