Fun weekend

I had a fun weekend. Yesterday I went to the Bois de Vincennes with Tn and Roscoe (alas, not in a car). It's so beautiful there! I had no idea. Wandering streams with tiny waterfalls. Roscoe had a great time, and met many doggie friends. And it's always lovely to get a chance to talk with Tn. We made plans for a Thanksgiving dinner which should have us all full to bursting, if we make all the dishes we're planning to make.

Saturday night I went with my friend JD and a bunch of people from the French website he likes to Café Solo, where they were doing name that tune (name that artist, really) for American songs... not that that's a large category or anything! JD eventually won drinks for everyone at the table. Of course I'm not so good at it myself... I had to call my lifeline J in Boston, who helped me out because I'm null at trivia (and as a bonus I got to hear about how her six-month-old is doing... he was a turtle for Halloween!). Anyway, I enjoyed meeting the people from the website and trying to keep up with them in French.

Today, brunch with JD and then to see a small play in the 20th with my new friend Mg from the group blog we both write for. Mg is excellent and writes very yummily, as you can see for yourself. :) At the play we ran into the gang from MEETin, including the people I went biking with last weekend. It is very nice to run into people... I think I've written before, it makes it feel like I actually live here.

Then tonight I was going to get my act together for the week, but instead I just wrote my group blog posts for the week. Well. I'll have some time tomorrow to get started. I'm quitting my French class. I've been at it for four weeks out of the six I'm signed up for, and after three weeks they changed teachers on us (because we "leveled up" to the next course). The old teacher was great: He got us talking a lot, and played actual French recordings for us, really working on the listening. The new teacher is condescending and has us do things like spend half an hour combing through a boring text looking for phrases that "express opinions." I cleared it with C, who's paying for all this, so tomorrow I'm going to have them take the money allocated for the last two weeks, and switch to an oral French class that only meets 6 hours a week.

Then maybe I'll have the time to start writing again for work... that would be nice!
