Just an update...

Last night went out with my boss and a former student of his, R, who is excellent, to hear her husband J play in a funk-soul-reggae band. Very cool, very cool people, especially R and J's daughter E who is about 6 and stayed up for about half of the set (her daddy smiled and pointed at her from the stage!). They are American, R teaches at the American University of Paris, met also another colleague of hers.

Today not as much work done on the Berlin talk as I would have liked, but did meet A for coffee, also did get to talk to lawyer friend of my friend J who told me what to do about getting my phone company to send me another phone under the insurance policy, it's complicated but I am glad to get French lawyer's advice. Then talked to him and his girlfriend about the Great Vowel Shift and all sorts of other things, practicing my French and providing professional opinions in return for professional opinions!

J is still running an internet cafe for me, also because he has physics background talked to me about physics (which actually has a lot to do with my talk in Berlin and my work in general); I helped him with a letter to a former employer, so I don't feel like I am freeloading all that much.

Tomorrow there is a workshop in the area on aspect and tense that I have to go to (this is why I had to miss L and K's wedding :( ) just to be seen and hopefully participate, though if the talks are all in French I'm afraid I won't be participating all that much.

And when am I going to finish my handout for Berlin?

Ah well, time to go home and sleep.
