Happy Thanksgiving!

It was just a regular day over here...cold and, eventually, rainy. I got my Stuttgart talk laid out, during an hour or two at the library and then about four hours at the lab, which was a relief because I was still trying to choose what to talk about, but now I think it's in good shape. So I am thankful for that. And when I got home from work I had a couple of drinks at l'Amuse-Gueule and finished thinking some things through for the talk. It was so nice to go into a bright warm lively place, coming in from the rain, where the staff knows you.

Waiting for my family to call from their Thanksgiving dinner...it's really hard not being there. It's made a little better by the fact that when it was dinner time for me, it wasn't for them; and now I'm so sleepy it doesn't feel like they could be having dinner. I'm glad I'm having a Thanksgiving on Saturday. I'm going to try to find marshmallows to make my mom's traditional sweet potato balls...wish me luck.

I'm thankful for so much... my excellent family and friends, of course. Also being here in Paris. I'm planning on taking Saturday off for a change... I would like to see more of the city. A linguist friend SF is in town from Bremen (he's an E-MELD person, for those of you keeping score at home; former student of TL's in Tucson); I don't know him all that well, but he's cool and perhaps we can do something touristy on Saturday before the Thanksgiving dinner.
