I thought I would share with you some of my purchases.
As I may have mentioned, part of the Christmas season in France seems to involve a lot of foie gras and other fatty meats, in terrines and patés, packed in cans and jars. I was tempted at Monoprix to buy a foie gras cooked in a terrine, which came with the terrine pot. Okay, no great frugality here but I appreciate lately the utility of buying things in resuable containers. And y'all know I'm a sucker for containers. Anyway, gentle reader, I bought it. And here it is:

It's hugely fatty; I'm trying to think of it as a meaty butter alternative. It says to eat it before the end of May, so I've got a while, thank goodness.
Another impulse buy was a can of cassolet; pretty, isn't it? "Canard" is 'duck', of course; more birds in cans.

A great thing about being in France is that even the store brand cheese might be made from raw milk.

Finally, in the yogurt aisle (remember the yogurt aisle?), you can find a lot of different puddings and crème caramel and mousse and other desserts. Often I get a crème caramel but today I went for the apple crumble.

It says it's even better with three minutes in a hot oven; too bad I don't have an oven!

Careful with the fois gras...May doesn't apply once it is opened! BigM
