Hey, my brother and I are practically in the same time zone again. He's arrived in London safely from Singapore, and I'll be joining him tomorrow, to see him and M (and the band), family friend LM, Boston friend T, and interesting French guy Sn. Should be fun!
Before then, I have some work to do, and a meeting today about an old paper of JH's (you know, my irrascible colleague at USC). The meeting is in this weird place way out on line 7, but fortunately, my line 7 stop is open again now. I don't know, I keep having the feeling I won't be getting very much out of this meeting, as it's in French. I thought I had trouble with tuning out in English... but with French, I can't even tune in in the first place. I hope there's a handout.
It does seem lately that people prefer me to ask questions in English. Twice now I've tried to do it in French and just been asked to switch to English. I think it's that my questions are more grammatically complex than my French can handle, because I have in the past been able to ask simpler questions in French and be understood.
