Last night when JD came over to help me celebrate six months in France, he brought with him... an oven! It's like a biggish toaster oven, with heating elements on both the top and the bottom. It's big enough to fit a roast.
What a thoughtful thing to do! (JD added that it was just a coincidence that it was International Women's Day, it wasn't that he was giving me an oven, of all things, for International Women's Day!) I spent the next hour or so remembering all the things I can make now that I have an oven -- including banana bread with the three bananas on my counter that are going brown, that I had been wondering what to do with.
It was too late to cook anything last night, though, so we went to Café de la Poste.
Today... I'm at Café Français, where I just met my student Nd because the university is still closed. I like meeting with her; I always feel like I can help her in concrete ways. She's actually invited me for dinner tonight, so that will be fun.
Yesterday I didn't get much done, and got away without even speaking much French the whole day, but maybe today there will be more work and more French.

Is International Women's Day only a French thing? It would be nice to have it in the US also. Maybe a note to Hallmark would make it happen.
