Vocabulaire: The West Wing

Up until now I'd never gotten hooked on The West Wing. I guess it's just too hard for me to jump into a series in the middle. However, JD and I watched the first episode yesterday... and then about four more episodes, and I can see why people get hooked on this series.

Of course we had the French subtitles turned on (JD said he definitely needed subtitles, because the characters talk so fast!), so I learned some vocabulary...

un cityoen lambda'an average citizen'
la cheville'ankle'

ne pas s'en faire'to not worry'
piger'to get' (understand)
trimer'to work very very hard'

trépigner'to be beside oneself, unable to wait'
"dégage""get out of my way"
"du vent""go away"
"ouste""go away"
"ça va""shut up"
"tais-toi""shut up"

Ah, the first episode of the West Wing... good times. Any time I'm flipping channels and happen upon that episode, I'm compelled to watch. They DO talk fast; sometimes even native speakers benefit from closed captions! Glad you enjoyed it. :)

not suprisingly, I really like the Eng-Fre vocab lists! Thanks for posting them.

I learned all about presidential censorship from the West Wing. Andrew Jackson being the first and only president thus far other than "Barlett." Now I can cheer on the Dems in real life.
