A joke
Happy Easter everyone! JD and his brother Fc and I hung out at a café to get some work done yesterday, and then went out for couscous. I have a whole nother blog entry to write about some vocabulary I got from them, but first this joke that Fc came up with that had us totally mdr ("mort de rire," 'dying of laughter'). When you go to take out money from an ATM, on the screen it might say something like "Veuillez patienter, nous traitons votre demande." That is, 'Please wait, we are fulfilling your request.' Traitons comes from traiter, which in this context means 'to take care of.' But traiter also apparently means 'to insult,' as in the phrase "Il m'a traité d'idiot," 'he called me an idiot.' So anyway, the joke was that Fc said to the ATM, "Il traite ma demande???" ('They're dissing my request?")
