Well, I don't know if it's death metal per se, but it's some kind of metal. N asked me to help her translate some songs for a friend of hers who has a band, and is putting out an album, and wanted English translations of the songs. We worked on it for several hours last week, and we're going to meet to do the second half this week. I thought I'd share with you some of the lyrics. Let's just select a song at random, shall we?
6. The curse of the god of tears
Forty black wild female cats
Were crying out from the fire, “Perun!”*
Forty black wild female cats
Were sinking in tears. Oh, god of tears!
God of tears! God of tears! You’ve been crying for a long time!
The lakes of tears were running in flames
It was already just salt pouring out from your eyes
Only crying was not enough. I pray!
I pray, take my left half with you,
Your tears do not roll over the fallow field
Your howl does not fly over the blue sea
Let the devilish demon be afraid of you
Let the old witches of Kiev run away from your image
The hanged on the gates of hell will be burning
I plague you with the black breath of the god of death.
*Perun: The most important pagan god, often presented as a wooden idol
N got to learn the word fallow, and I got to learn the word Perun.
