Conservation of dogs

Today my bro and belle-soeur took their dog back to NYC. The dog, G, had been staying with my mom for the eight months that bro and belle-soeur were in Beijing. Mom took good care of her. Though apparently G was more than happy to jump into the car, relieved that for once she was going along with mommy and daddy and the scary suitcases.

Today, as well, I met P - a nine-year-old abandoned Brittany Spaniel who had jumped into my friends Br and J's car when they stopped to try to get him out of the road. They took him to a vet to check his ear tattoo, and there was a sad story behind it... his previous owner had killed himself, then the owner's girlfriend had found a new boyfriend, and it looked like they had tried several times to just dump P far away.

Br and J called around to find a home for him, but it looks like they may be keeping him. They have a house in the country (they found P near there), so he can run around on the weekends.

He's kind of insecure, as you might imagine after what he's been through. But a very sweet dog.

I offered to take him for walks and keep him company. I'd love to get a dog myself, but I just don't have the lifestyle at the moment. So this is a good solution.

Thus, conservation of dogs: Dogginess is neither created nor destroyed.
