Not to kill those people who speak funny

It does seem as though Parisians speak more English than they used to, especially those in the tourist and restaurant trade. I sometimes run across waiters who insist on speaking to me in English even though I respond in French. They are proud of their skills, and well they should be.

A lot of these skills come from private schools, many of which advertise ad nauseum on the métro ("Yes, I speak English! Wall Street English!" being one tired example of this genre). Below is the latest attempt by an English language school in France to catch métro riders' attention: it means both "Stop massacring the English language," and "Stop massacring the Englishman."

Stop the massacre, indeed. Going by the tartan, that poor man is a Scotsman.

If the picture is quite ill-advised (but there's another one with a bobby... and you can't seriously ask a French person that doesn't speak English to distinguish between a Brit and a Scot), I think the slogan is genius... (ok, maybe not genius, but very amusing)

The only good thing about that ad is that the scotsman looks like Gordon Ramsey, and everyone would like to give him a slap!
I almost worked for that language school a long time ago, and it was quite an odd place, so I'm not surprised about the ad, but I am surprised that they have the budget to do it!
