C, head and heart of the lab I belong to, passed away last Friday. He had been ill, but I guess I had been thinking that if anyone could pull through, he could. But it was just not in the cards. Everyone is devastated. He was such a sweet man. He brought us all together. I had a beer for him after I heard the news.
The funeral is tomorrow at Père Lachaise Cemetery, where I've never been although it's only a short bus ride from where I live.
